Why does the old owner's name appear on my bill?
If the name of the previous owner of your house appears on the bill it means that the district still has not received a copy of your deed of sale. This is required of the district before we are allowed to take the name off the account. Washington State law stipulates that water rights follow the property owner. We must have proof of the transfer of property rights before we can change names on an account. Please forward a copy of the deed to the district office along with your account number and we will gladly remove the old owners name.
